Lesson 13

1. Have you ordered yet? 你點過菜了嗎？order vt. 點菜；叫菜；定貨；定購；命令；n. 定貨；定購；命令；叫 / 要的（菜，飯，酒等） 短語：place an order with sb. for sth. 向某人訂購某物；e.g. It’s time we order dinner now. 現(xiàn)在該點菜了。 What drinks shall we order? 我們要什么酒呢？ It is said that they have ordered more grain from Canada. 據(jù)說他們從加拿大又訂購了更多的谷物。 He ordered us to be there on time. 他命令我們準時到達那兒。 Can I take your order now? 現(xiàn)在可以請您點菜了嗎？ He placed an order with the company for firty mobibe phones. 他向這家公司定購了五十部移動電話。***order后接賓語從句用虛擬語氣 should + 動詞原形。e.g. He ordered the work should be started at once. 他命令立即開始干這項工作。

2. --- Are you hungry? --- Yes, I sure am. ---你餓了嗎？---是的，我的確餓了。這兒的I sure am. = I am certainly hungry. / Of course I am hungry. sure adv. 的確； 當然；e.g He sure is tall. 他的個子的確高。It sure is a cold day. 今天的確冷得很。 ---Would you like to come? ---Sure./ Surely. ---你愿意來嗎？ ---當然愿意。

3. Right now I could eat an ox.. 現(xiàn)在我真是餓壞了。

4. Just let me wipe your table and then I’ll take your order, OK? 我先擦一下桌子，然后再給你們送菜來。wipe 擦；wipe out 消滅；消除；e.g. It was wiped out from his memory. 這件事從他的記憶中消失了。 wipe off sth. 把 …… 擦掉; e.g. Wipe off the words from the blackboard. 請把黑板上的字擦掉。

5. Anything to follow? = Anything else? / Do you have anything to follow? 你還要點別的什么菜嗎？to follow 下一道（菜等）； e.g. What will you have to follow, Sir? 這位先生，下一道菜你打算點什么呢？

6. My only regret is that it’s quite a long way from all my friends. 我唯一的遺憾就是離我的所有的朋友都太遠了。regret vt. 悲傷；懊悔；遺憾；e.g. My only regret is that I have only one life to lose for my country. 我唯一遺憾的是我只有一次生命獻給我的祖國。He expressed regret for what he had done. 他對自己所做的錯事感到后悔。 We feel regret at his absence. 對于他的缺席我們感到遺憾。*** regret后接for 表示對自己的過失感到后悔; 接at或over表示對別人的事情或過失遺憾；e.g. He regretted his past mistakes. 他后悔他過去的錯誤。I regret that I can’t come. 非常抱歉，我來不了了。

7. All the same, I expect you will enjoy coming into town now and again. 盡管如此，我還是希望你隔一段時間就進城來一趟。all the same = just the same 盡管如此； e.g. It was raining hard, but we got there in time all the same. 天下著大雨，盡管如此我們還是及時趕到那兒。 now and then = now and again 時常；不時地；e.g. He goes to visit his grandma now and again. 他時常去看望他的奶奶。

8. Let’s fix a date. 讓我們定個日期吧。fix vt. 確定；決定；（日期，價格，租金等）e.g. We have fixed the date for the meeting. 我們已經(jīng)確定了會議的日期。We’ll fix the price, if you wish. 如果你愿意，咱們把價格定下來吧。
